Demand a Flat File CSV export from your current vendor. Never accept PDFs or proprietary backup files, they typically are unusable for migration.
Map every record by Employee ID (or Payroll ID), never by Name. Names change; IDs are the only source of truth.
Ensure you have the editable source files (.story, .rise, .ppt) for your custom training content, not just the published SCORM packages.
Purge data older than 5-7 years (depending on legislation). Don't pay to migrate records you are legally allowed to archive.
